Isofix?

Can people give me opinions on an isofix for the car seat? I have the silver cross car seat that came with an isofix but can also use it without one. This is my is my first baby so not sure if it’s safer to use one or not. I don’t know anyone who has used one so just looking for opinions? Also my car is compatible with an isofix.

So my car seats are fitted with the isofix fittings but I also put the seat belt on them, the strap for just isofix attachment needs to go over the head rest (I think!) so I actually found it easier to connect it with isofix in place and then secure it with the seat belt! I have 360 turning car seats which are really handy and I like that they are secure with the isofix and seat belt too!

I was going to ask about using a seat belt and isofix to see if that’s safer or not. I’m completely clueless about the isofix because I’ve never known anyone to use one but my partner is insisting on using one because he thinks it’s safer

Isofix is definitely safer.

@Amelia but you can use isofix and seatbelts simultaneously is what I’ve read. I think it depends on the car seat brand 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Lizzie it’s one or the other - never both. I’d recommend car seat safety UK for the most up to date information x

Do you mean isofix base? Or one of those car seats that just has the tethers that go into the isofix? I had a look at those yesterday and they didn’t feel that secure to me so we have opted for the isofix base

@Kathryn the isofix base

Yeah I think it’s safer with the base rather than just the seatbelt, and also easier as you can click it in and out :)
