Numbers

I know it’s normal for kids to miss numbers and stuff but my daughter can say 2,3,4,6,8 She says 2,3,4 on her own (because of the jungle book song that got hup,2,3,4 😂) and says 6 & 8 while I’m counting with her. I’ll pause so she can try and say it first and she says them at the right time but she doesn’t attempt any other numbers. I’ll count with her at any opportunity. She loves counting toys, stairs sometimes biscuits and stuff. She gets upset if I don’t count the stairs EVERYTIME 😂 but how else can I help encourage numbers? Particularly number 1 lol anytime I say the number 1 she says the number 2

When you give her her drink, one cup of water, one juice. Fetching her coat one coat, if she has a nursery bag, one bag. Sounds like your already doing an amazing job.

My son is exactly the same he can practically count up to 10 except number 1 😂 chances are your toddler will know it, just storing it for later!

I think it's because when we have multiples of something we always count the multiples but when we have one of something we don't tend to. That's why I think saying one cup, one coat, one seat etc helps.

Mine counts to 10 but ALWAYS misses the number 7! Most of my friends little ones are the same with 7 so I wonder if it’s a difficult number or something haha! Someone pointed out that it’s 2 syllables and all the rest are 1 so that could be. Sorry this comment is no help at all, it’s just interesting me haha!

My son can count nearly to 30 but objects to the number 15. Point blank refused to say it but leaves the gap for it 😂

Mine always skips five 😆

@Xanthe my daughters favorite one is seven 😂😂😂

@Nada well this has well and truly proved my hypothesis wrong 😂
