Weaning & no dairy

This may sound silly but I’m starting to wean my 5 month old, she is on CMPA milk Nutramigen & she doesn’t seem to like it mixed in with food which is totally understandable 🤣 I was just curious as to when she could try milk such as almond or oat milk? Would it still be around 12months like if she was going to have cows milk?

Milk and milk alternatives are fine from the go as it's being used in food. 12 months is when you would be replacing formula with your milk of choice which is why you need to wait to use it as a drink.

We used oat milk in food, barista as it's higher in fat. In food only until 11ish months as I wanted him to try it before we slowly weaned him across to it.

@Jaanki 5 months isn’t too young to start adding oat milk into her purée’s? I don’t want to buy any store purée I would like to just make my own for as long as I can

We didn't use any until 6 months as we didn't wean until then. We also did baby led weaning so not much milk went into foods, just mashed potatoes and porridge to start

If she’s still drinking as much formula as recommended for her age, you could just mix a bit of sterile water in there instead of milk to make it smoother and runnier.

The idea is to not have milk or any dairy take place of formula or breastmilk

Weaning is recommended at 6 months - we used oat milk in his food from 6 months and then it replaced breastmilk at around 13 months x
