Second steak strips! You could also start with scrambled egg anf then work up to omelette after a few tries?
Toast is quite hard for them at first. We started with banana and other soft fruits like raspberry & squashed blueberry. Then made things like broccoli & cheese croquettes. They can hold them but they do just fall apart once they start eating. Once they have mastered the pincher grasp you can do anything. My LO got it quite early about 7.5 months and will pick up anything with her thumb & forefinger. strips of sandwich meat, cucumber, tomatoes, baked beans she eats one by one and even porridge or Weetabix she dips her fingers in gets a ball and puts it in her mouth herself
I have been terribly anxious about choking, I found omelette made with plenty of milk was a really good start. Cooled down and cut into strips. I think this was the only finger food in gave them for about two weeks to help them gain skills and for me to ease into it. You’ll get there ❤️
Thanks everyone @India I think I will try scrambled egg then work up to Omelette. Did everyone treat egg as an allergen like peanut butter?
I treated it as an allergy, did it for breakfast and kept an eye!
Yep treated it like an allergy 😊
I gave him a cooked carrot today prepared as solid starts suggests. He started nibbling it but then ended up with a chunk in his mouth which he eventually swallowed whole. His little eyes watered it was so big. I just don't know how to help him as everybody always says their babies mostly waste the food or mush it in their hands. He goes straight for the mouth and bites chunks off.
My girl did this, and still does with some unfamiliar foods. I still don’t give her certain foods yet. The only way they learn is through practice, which is why I gave her the same thing (a food I was most comfortable with) for a while. Honestly, give milky omelette strips a go, I do it in the microwave so it’s steamed and doesn’t go crispy or hard. It breaks up so easy in their mouth/ hands. The eye watering, red face, choking ect is normal though. I also watched loads of videos online to help me feel more comfortable.
My little boy really likes steak strips, chicken drumsticks, corn on the cob, fruit wedges etc. they are really hard to take chunks out of, even though he has two front teeth, never had any problems with choking with these
