Witching “hour”

Please say it gets better 😢 little one is 6 weeks. Going through a leap plus a horrible cough and cold! - husband usually does the last feed but can’t settle little man and it’s taken hours. I have had to end up getting up and helping. Last night it took over two hours. I treasure the hours I get while my husband is with him but he really struggles so want to ensure he’s not alone doing it because I would wake him if I needed too. Any tips?

We are the same! Little girl is 6 weeks + 4 days, and we've been going through this since she was about two or three weeks, every single night. She starts anywhere between 6 pm and 11 pm, and it can end at 4 am. We have just started to notice a difference, and last night, there was no "witching." I can completely relate. It's soul destroying! Me and my husband are both absolutely knackered & it's so tough when I have her all day and he's at work doing a manual job, but I need help at night with her. He does help immensely, but I'm the one who's guilty cause he needs to sleep for work! I'm hoping it ends soon, and we can get in a bit of a routine. But I'm with you on this, your definitely not alone! Xx

We had this at 6 weeks! Anything between 6-12pm was madness.

He would take a bottle fine all day and bring up wind ok then between those hours I have no idea why it would go crazy but he’s 8 weeks now and it’s finally come to an end. Back to taking a bottle fine and he’s bringing up his wind so much easier ! It will pass x

Just keep at it as a team it does get better, we had this and hopefully on the other side now with the occasional night. We found being together helped us massively as we could switch up when needed to as it can be hard emotionally on you. As each night can be different from what settled our little one if anything did.

we’re hopefully on the back end of this leap, thankfully. (8 weeks on friday). we’ve found that giving our one a warm bath around the kind of time he usually gets fussy has helped calm him down for sure. we’ve found bath > big feed > bed (he’s usually quite sleepy after that). we’ve found this to be helpful too - https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/johnsons-baby-bath-bedtime/035893-18034-18035?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADnhuuVg2YN2AbIOePuiCSJrd2Kze&gclid=CjwKCAiA6t-6BhA3EiwAltRFGC7FPV5ecoYE-GulKzSBKOy9xlzR_fpPf6W7-bg380lK8lFpxWDFrRoCgMAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

We’ve been through this. What I found was he was tired when he was fussy. We hugged/swaddled him to sleep, we had to hold him tight and he feel asleep, once he woke up he took the bottle fine. It does get easier! Xxx

My first born had a witching hour from 10pm-12pm and it lasted around 5 months!😭 we had to take him out for a walk to settle him until it was midnight and he finally fell asleep,. Thankfully he was a summer baby! so far so good with this baby!
