@Kyla honestly, it’s not that I don’t like that advice, I’m just struggling with how to get started. I was going to potty train prior to his sister being born. Literally have all the stuff to get started. He is nonverbal so trying to figure out how to handle the communication aspect has been my problem.
I'm sorry it's causing you so much anxiety! I'm a mom of three boys, and they all did it. My 2 year old smeared poop all over himself when I was at work just the other day. He's nonverbal and nowhere near ready to potty train. My 4 year old was nonverbal until 3 1/2, and he is just now potty trained. It was the same for my oldest. If they can't talk, they aren't ready. My two younger boys have signs of ADHD as well. My oldest was diagnosed with ADD at the age of 5 their dad has ADHD so knowing that it gave us an understanding of why they do the things they do. I'm not saying your little has ADHD but if it runs in your family, maybe it would give you an understanding of why he's doing that.
@Sarah my husband has ADHD so we know it’s a possibility. My son was also evaluated for autism. We’re just waiting on the report to confirm. I think it’s just a lot at one time. We didn’t have this issue before she was born so it was a lot to add in to bringing a new baby home 😣 I know it can be developmentally normal, just not sure how to handle it. I thought it was getting better since it’s been almost 2 weeks since he’s done this but it happened last night and again this morning 😮💨
He may just be regressing. All of my boys were evaluated for autism too. Their doctor claims they are too young to be diagnosed ADHD (that's just my experience) ADHD causes a LOT of development issues. I hope you get your answers 🤍
The non verbal thing definitely has me stumped. So, when I was worried about my dude messing with his diaper, but wanting him cooler in the summer nights, I found some short sleeve, shorts, zip up pj's. So, kinda like a onesie? Granted at the time he didn't know how to work a zipper... Think that would help? Or keep him in anything full body (like footie pj's).
I’ve seen some hacks where people will put the full zip up pajamas backwards to discourage them from unzipping. It’d have to be pajamas without the feet part or maybe cut an opening on the feet if that’s what you have. Might be worth a shot 🤷🏻♀️
@Kyla that’s all he wears at home currently because I thought it would help.. he just stretches the fabric into his diaper 😵💫
@Jasmin unfortunately, he stretches the fabric into his diaper so it wouldn’t matter if it was backwards 😅
Advice you won't like. Potty training time?
