Baby slapping

So we’ve got a little problem on our hands. Past 2/3 weeks my daughter who’s 16m old has been slapping me and only me. Not dad or grandparents or anyone else. A little confused on where she got this behaviour from as I’m sure she hasn’t seen it or we don’t let her watch violent stuff. She does it all the time. If she’s happy she gives me a slap if she’s angry if she’s in whatever mood like randomly a few times a day 😂 Sometimes it’s gentle sometimes it’s a good slap. I’ve tried to tell her off and I’ve also pretended to be upset but neither works. When dad tells her off she stops but when I do she doesn’t really care. What am I doing wrong?🥲 Is anyone else going through the same thing? I’m not sure what to do? Like I said she only does to me and no one else?

Following. Mine bites me 😭

My guess is she likes the slap sound and loves your engagement. I always ignore my son’s ‘accidents’ till he stops. Absolute poker face. It’s harder to ignore his kicks when I change his nappy so I’ll keep working on that 😂

I put her down immediately if she slaps me, with poker face and saying firmly “we don’t slap”. It’s been getting better but it takes time as they don’t have impulse control

It’s definitely not just you, it’s like children feel more comfortable with mum sometimes that they will just do whatever, at nursery we just put them down say no thankyou gentle hands and move them away and try give them a distraction. It’s definitely a phase that they go through with acting out a little.
