If you are getting worried and too anxious, you could try one of those FridaMom Windi tools. Our baby was constipated and in the hospital did that and she pooped But yes they say for breastfed babies 10 days
Breastfed babies can go a long time without pooping, like a week or more. When he does go it’ll be explosive! Best way to get your baby to poop (this is just a joke) - put him in his nicest outfit and leave a bit late to try make it to an important appointment and forget the nappy bag. Guarantee you he’ll have a blow out in the car!
It's common but not normal for babies to not poo daily. It would really help to try and figure out the route cause as to why they're not pooing regularly. Could be latch on the bottle swallowing too much air, which could also contribute to the reflux. Could also be a sign of oral dysfunction. I'd recommend seeing a lactation consultant for a proper assessment to get to the bottom of it as baby will just get uncomfortable with everything going on x
The GP gave us something after day 3 but little one also suffers with reflux and was on gaviscon at the time which can make them constipated. We got given something after laxatives
It's normal around that age for them to go a few days without poop. Early weeks 1 a day then around this park their metabolism starts to change and alter and they can go a few days. Mine is 7 weeks. At 5 weeks she this started, she did a poo on Day 4. Now tends to go every 3ish. I then double checked with her HV at 6 week check and she said as long as when she does go it's not hard and small you're good. It might look different when she does go now too as it's in her system longer. May babies got a bit darker than the yellow it was and almost like a toothpaste consistency. She said while she's trying to get that out then she might get a bit fussy. A warm bath can help though as it relaxes everything for them.
Thanks for all your comments, typically he did one during the night last night as soon as I’d posted this 😂 and seemed to be normal consistency for him! Thanks again!
They say it can be normal to not poop for up to 10 days. I wouldn’t worry if it doesn’t bother them. Tummy massage and bicycle is best what you can do. And lots of breastmilk of course :)
