IUGR babies

I was diagnosed with IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction) at 29 weeks and my daughter was born on 11/7/2024 at 37+1 (I was induced because of the IUGR) and I’m curious if any other November 2024 babies are similar? She was 4lbs 2oz at birth but no NICU time. We are currently at 4lbs 13oz, but she also has a heart murmur that causes weight gain issues. Would love to talk to other moms with similar stories!

I also was diagnosed with IUGR around 24 weeks and had my baby 11/19 at 38 weeks. She was 5lbs 13 oz at birth, and dropped to 5lbs 6oz after. She was diagnosed with SGA (small gestational age) after she was born and was having issues with staying awake and eating. According to our doctor she was acting more like a 35/36 weeker because she was so small she didn’t have the energy reserve to wake up to eat and her body was so tired it wasn’t telling her when she was hungry. It was so emotionally and physically draining and I can only imagine you’re feeling similar!

Definitely emotionally and physically draining and sending you love 💗. Thank you for sharing and I feel you. My lady is also sleepy, although now it’s getting better at 5 weeks and she will wake up sometimes when she’s hungry. It’s so hard because I just want to know she’s ok and growing (even if it’s slower and smaller)

You too Mama! It gets better I promise! I felt the same was, she started waking herself up to eat the last week or so and I swear now she’s always hungry! Sending you and your little one all the love and hugs!

I was diagnosed at week 28, growth percentile was below 5%, had to be induced at week 38 when he reached 1%. It’s emotionally and physically taxing, the hardest challenges to face but trust your momma instincts-you’ve got this. It’s been a rollercoaster but now at 6 weeks my 5 lb baby is 9.2 lbs and starting to get chunky since I committed to amping up my milk production, invested in a good pump and feed him every 2-3 hours by literally waking him, he gets furious but it’s paying off. Game changers for me have been getting a Spectra1 pump, tricking him into thinking my boob is a bottle by using nipple shields to get him to bite me enough to stimulate let down, using Philips Avent/ Dr. Brown bottles and eating oats every single day (I add flax, chia, hemp hearts, dates, berries and just about anything I can find that’s gonna keep me nourished) I keep taking prenatals, d gummies and incorporated sunflower lecithin to get a smoother milk flow. Treat yourself as well as you can please!

Also, your baby is adorable. You’ve got this!

I’m so glad your guy is growing! I’m hoping ours catches up soon; her heart murmur makes it hard to gain weight since her body uses a lot of energy to eat, but we just got her on medication to help. I’ll try the other tips too!
