when she can sit up independently. my son’s pediatrician cleared him at 5.5 months, but typically 6 months. it’d be a good conversation to have at her 4 month appointment.

It is recommended from 6months in the UK

6 months ☺️

6 months

Started my son on baby porridge a week before he was 4 months old, I will move him into solids when he’s 6 months/ or sitting up.

6 months old plus also showing all signs of readiness. There are no positives to starting early unless medically advised.

I started mine at 4 1/5 months doctor said it was fine. He did great with it

6m. When their digestive system is mature enough and can handle it. He just grabbed my banana one day around 6m started chomping on it and that was that 😂 was eating w us from that day.

We started around 4 months on small things. Our doctor told us to do so

My pediatrica at the time said at 6 months old

6 months is advised. Starting earlier than 4 months leads to gut issues in later life. It’s also a lot of work and cleaning! I would stick to the simplicity of milk for as long as you can.

I started my LO on pouches then started blending food up at 3 months she was ready for them and she wanted food. Every child is ready at different paces.

It's advised after 6 months because they're when most babies meet the requirements for safe feeding. There have been studies that show weaning before 6 months can servery damage the digestive system and give life long issues because the gut is not fully developed. Also there are studies that show if you wean before 6 months the child is more likely to have allergies. Same with not introducing them before 12. Why the rush anyways? They're only this small once

ask your pediatrician at the next appointment. my son got approved to start solids at 4 months, the general rule is 6 months. i’ve recently heard of some moms waiting 12 months. always do your own research, even after talking with a medical professional!

@Helen the OP is only asking questions, no where within the post does it state about weaning early. People are allowed to ask ahead of time, nothing wrong with being prepared.

6 months they don’t need it before x

Not until 6 months and ticking the boxes of being ready! At 3 months they won't be anywhere near ready

Everyone in here is from the uk which has different standards then America. But most of everyone I know has started around 4/5 months old and nothing has happened. Just start with purées

I’m in uk and started properly at 6 months and did baby led weaning. However we did give her the odd taste of something in the couple of weeks beforehand … like a tiny bit of soup on a spoon or some apple sauce. Just to gauge if she was ready and to see if she could hold a spoon herself.

@Sarah🦄 and I was curious too. I have seen plenty of people on this app state they've weaned at 3 months. Thus the information I provided was given and the question at the end.

6 months, if able to sit correctly 😊

6months is the NHS recommendation

When you get her pediatrician’s approval/ 6 months old. Follow your intuition and baby’s cues- mamas’ instincts don’t lie
