Baby won’t sleep unless hands are tucked away

Just looking for some advice, my daughter is 5 months old and sleep in a sleep suit at night and still contact naps in the day. If I put her down without being swaddled or if her arms are out in her sleep suit, she’ll just wake up. She’s always been very handsy and always touches her face or pulls her dummy from her mouth, has anyone been through the same thing and have any advice? Thank you☺️

I am going through the same thing 😔

Yep my daughter did the EXACT same thing. I don’t remember us doing anything in particular to change it, I think it’s just something they have to grow through. Shes 6 months now and it seems to be much better.

I would try and get her to start sleeping without the swaddle from now to be honest. She’s 5 months and will start rolling soon if she’s not already. This can lead to suffocation if she turns and can’t get out of the position due to not having arm movement. This is the reason they advise to stop swaddling after 3 months. I’ve seen others go cold turkey on the swaddle in the June group. It’s going to take some time for her to get used to but I would highly recommend it now. Babies touching their face and dummy etc is a developmental thing so it’s not bad even though it does wake her. She will get used to it x

Heya, our little one did this when we started stopping swaddling. I found when she was sleepy/asleep from a contact nap or rock I'd put her down in her cot on her side and hold her there so one arm is under her and I gently place my hand on her other (and tap bum) and then she would just gradually/softly roll onto her back when fully asleep and wouldn't startle. Hopefully your little one settles soon 😊🤞🏼

I don’t have advice as we still swaddle our 5 month old. We plan on cold turkeying it in a couple of weeks when we sleep train her (closer to 6 months). Did the same with my first and she got used to it eventually x
