Food portion sizes

What portion sizes are you giving your babies for each meal? My girl is 10.5 months and generally has: 3 tablespoons of porridge mix made up for breakfast plus bsicotti Half a Heinz jar of stage 2 or 3 baby food, plus a small portion of finger food (like 2 strips of toast, 1 small pinwheel, a handful of melty puffs, 2 sweet potato wedges etc), plus either a fruit pouch or about 50ml yoghurt for dessert for lunch Same as above for dinner Some days she eats loads more. My HV told me if she seems interested in continuing to eat, feed her, so we do. However we've noticed on the days where she eats LOADS she's sick straight after. I think we're feeding her too much and she's making herself sick she's eaten so much. So, what do you do? Has anyone had this happen?

My LG eats so well it’s ridiculous! But I cap her meal amounts so she isn’t sick and hasn’t yet been to date. Yesterday breakfast she had shredded wheat with raspberries, 6oz bottle in the morning, for lunch had beetroot muffin, 3 mini pancakes, half an orange, afternoon snack had 2 courgette fingers, for tea had a jacket potato with chicken and pea sauce with a side of 3 broccoli florets and some fruit for pudding, she would have probably continued eating at all 3 meal times but I just put enough on her plate (which is quiet a lot I think for her she) and she may sulk when I take the food away when it’s empty but she’s happy a few seconds later again!x

@Hollie that's amazing! How much shredded wheat are you giving her? It's so hard to know what to do...I don't want to not feed her if she's still hungry but she's been sick like 3-4 times now on days where she eats lots so i also want to be careful, feel like I've not got the balance right yet

We have hit and miss days. But she generally eats 20g of oats, plain or with fruits. Mid morning banana. Lunch could be a 1 egg omlette with veg or a good portion of pasta. With some apricots or kiwi. We only give her rice cakes as an emergency extra. Dinner can be steak and potatoes, stew, fish. Followed by some fruit. She eats really well and we've never had any sickness from food. She normally gets naturally full and when she's done, she'll look me in the eyes and throw it over the side 😂

@Emily so today she probably had 20grams I would say, a small bowl full and a handful of raspberries. It is really difficult to get the portions right, like I feel like should I keep feeding her but when I look at her portion I just think that’s totally enough for a baby your size even if she disagrees 🤣

@Hollie thanks so much! It's so useful to see it f

My boy will eat so much he sicks it all up too if we let him so you’re not alone- I think it’s just trial and error on portion sizes- mainly I get it right, but every now and then it’s puked all back up 🙄😂

I give too much because majority goes on the floor, and he knows when he's done
