Feeding

My 7-week-old baby has been drinking 120ml (4 ounces) every 3 hours and usually finishes the bottle. She uses MAM bottle with a size 1 teat and drinks Aptamil formula. Recently, I increased her amount to 150ml (5 ounces), but she has started refusing the bottle, pushing it away, and falling asleep during feeds. I switched to a size 2 teat, and now she drinks anywhere between 60-100ml (2-3.5 ounces). However, I’ve noticed she has started spitting up milk after feeds, sometimes even a couple of hours later, despite being burped. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice would be appreciated!

5oz seems like a lot every three hours to me I have a lil one the same age, maybe go back to 4 until she's a bit heavier? X

My 11 week old is still using size 1 teats and sometimes spits up quite a bit so really have to pace feed and burp halfway on some feeds when she’s drinking fast. She would guzzle it down as fast as possible if I didn’t monitor! So maybe burp halfway through, and it can help if baby is falling asleep part way through feeding too

@Georgie my LB took 5 oz at 7 weeks, every baby is different. Some take more some take less but it’s normal, especially if individually they’re all putting on weight in line with their charts. Original poster - maybe go back to size 1 teats. Follow babies lead, my LB hit a growth spurt around 6 weeks and was all off with the amount of milk he’d take for a week or so. As long as baby is having wet nappies, putting on weight and seems ok other wise. We sometimes use infacol and that seems to help with spit ups. And of course try keep baby upright for a while after, especially with a bigger feed. Any concerns that don’t improve maybe contact HV for advice ☺️ X
