Blood in poo

Should this be cause for concern, she had it a few times as a newborn not as bad tho and she's now 6 months. She does have a suspected cows milk allergy.

Is she on dairy free formula?x

I am breastfeeding and have cut out all dairy, I have been a bit naughty and slowly started to introduce it to my diet again, she seems absolutely fine no belly aches no rashes no irritability. Maybe it's that x

Does the blood look like currant jelly? It can be a sign of a serious issue (intussusception), but she would be in severe abdominal discomfort as well Id probably take her to the doctor tomorrow if she seemed well in herself

I would contact her doctor asap to be safe. Any blood in bowel movemets need to be addressed as soon as possible. But with allergies and breastfeeding. They do say you need to reintroduce the allergy (such as diary) to see if there is any reaction. If there is then cut it back out and reattempt when baby is 1 years old. My LO has a diary allergy and our doctor told me to slowly reintroduce diary to my diet whem LO is 6 months old. And if i have a reaction to cut it back out (let them know so they can chart it) and reattempt at 1.

Definitely see a doctor in case of anything serious. My baby had this due to cow's milk protein allergy, and she's been absolutely fine since she's been prescribed Nutramigen.

I’m not sure. Has it happened more than once? How is baby behaving? I’ve heard that milk allergies show up as mucus in poop. If it’s happened more than once I would def tell Dr and show them this pic.

Hey, I would have it checked with the doctor. As above, blood in stool could be a sign of intussusception, and if your baby has a dairy allergy, its best to steer clear from dairy and soya (as soya is also a common allergy if baby has a milk allergy), unless advised by a paediatrician to reintroduce it. Our paediatrician told us to not give any dairy if baby has blood in stool. Your baby may have a more severe allergy and instead of going on the milk ladder on your own you may need to do it with doctors in a controlled environment. X

See if you can get a gastric appt bb! My friend Anne’s baby had this issue. She cut dairy and it stopped but I would see a gastro just in case. My doctor said that gastroenterologist will only see Baby for things like this not gas and reflex like I struggle with.

For sure call the pediatrician and see what their protocol for this is. They may have you come in or they may have you monitor baby at home.
