Hospital bills

Hi mamas, I gave birth 2 months ago in an in network hospital, and I am now seeing bills for an eco that they did on my daughter. I contacted insurance and they said it is because the patient was admitted to a hospital! Lol!!!! Well she was born there!! They said this count as an stay-in test charge and it would be free if she was not already admitted! So obviously I am angry… And there are a few other thousands billed for pediatrician visits to our hospital room! Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

That sounds normal 🥲 unfortunately

Did u apply for coverage for her prior?

Normal. Once we signed up for insurance it was billed to them. We had to pay towards her deductible

I think it’s normal and you should have a grace period of a month or two to add baby to your insurance. But every insurance is different so check with your company. Anything the baby receives for care in hospital will be covered under your insurance as you can’t add baby until after they are born.

It may be worth it to talk with your insurance provider. My insurance covered my baby for the first month so everything in that first month was billed under me & my deductible, not my child’s

Never heard of that personally. I didn’t have to pay a penny when I was pregnant or post birth
