Picky toddlers 😩

So.. my toddler is so hardheaded. She will starve herself as long as she can before she eats something she doesn’t prefer… all she wants is fruit, applesauce, shells and cheese, pizza, cereal. I struggle to get her to eat anything else .. she’s behind on her weight a little bit and it’s so frustrating.. I do not want to wait her out like this to the point she can’t help but give in and eat by the time dinner comes bc she’s so hungry.. what can I do? Am i doing it right ? I feel so conflicted 😐

Have you tried making a hidden veggie cheese sauce? Seems like a pretty typical toddler diet tbh what does her pediatrician think about her weight?

@Favi 🐄💕 I will definitely try that.. but she’s 19months she weighs 21lbs. Ped. says she’s a bit small.

I suggest continuing to offer other things but I would allow her to eat the things she likes rather than seeing how long she’ll go without eating. No shaming/blaming here 🫶🏼. I’m sure this can be a very sensitive issue. My three year old who has been eating everything since he started solids has recently gone on a selective food strike as well. My mom is my babysitter while I’m at work and will make comments that she doesn’t know what to feed him because he only wants ‘xyz’ and I have to remind her almost daily to feed him whatever she can get him to eat as long as he’s eating. I try to remain positive and remind myself this is hopefully just a phase and is not forever. In return you can get some lab work done for her to make sure everything comes back as normal and there’s no deficiencies. I hope this helps at all. 💛

We try to mix stuff we know she’ll eat with maybe something new Or being sneaky about mixing in veggies/chicken I totally get the desperation Definitely a phase We just keep offering food all day My daughter is also small so whatever she’ll eat, I give her

@Melissa thanks, I’m not offended at all. I actually don’t like doing that, I felt a bit pressured to and it stresses me out because I rather just give her what she wants.. i usually do honestly, due to wanting her to gain regardless of what she’d eat.. however It probably is just a phase that I’m ready to be over. Lol
