Another split sleep night! Does anyone know what we should be doing for while they wake up?

So my almost 1 year old (in 10 days) has been having some split nights where she wakes for a couple hours during the night. I think it’s teething related as she bit me on my arm twice! Also learning a lot etc. tbh I have no ideaaaaa! How are we supposed to react? I mean I try and put her back to sleep but I just end up irritating her- she arches her back and legs and and proper fights it. So I end up putting a lamp on and playing or reading her books but am I creating a bad habit or routine??? Can she get used to this? That’s my fear 😭 but what else do I do while she is awake? Btw I can’t just leave her in her cot because she will just cry or chew the rails non stop!

Following.. just to say currently in the same boat! She's been awake for 2 hours so far 😭😭

Same here! Except mine has been doing this for about 5 months 🙈 I just really think my baby cannot soothe herself at all. Health visitor told me to let her cry but I can’t do that xx

We’ve had it on and off for a few weeks as well, and I think it’s 100% developmental. Riding it out. I keep telling myself if he has a really long wake to leave the nursery with him so we’re not huddled in the dark trying to force him back to sleep. But we’re the same and don’t leave him on his own if he is upset. It should pass. That’s what I keep telling myself 🤪

How much sleep is she having in the day? I’ve read some other posts that split nights can be a sign of too much napping in the day 😢 I think I’d handle it exactly like you are, no point fighting it in the dark and everyone getting upset.. I hope it ends soon for you.

We had a few weeks of this and I was demented. Like others have said I think it was developmental but I also needed to start capping daytime sleep which has massively helped. Some good posts here https://www.instagram.com/p/Ckgaw-pIe0r/?igsh=MWRzMTR2dHg2MGt5cw==

Mines worse since I’ve been back to work. He’s not managing anymore than 45 mins of naps at nursery and it’s killing me off 🫠🫠
