I’m the same way! I chew up food for her still and give her soft foods like avocado slices. But mainly baby food! I’m scared of choking so maybe when I’m ready and I feel like she’s ready we’ll start progressing

@Amanda i’m scared to do soft foods even😭

What about things that are too small to choke on? Like rice, tiny pieces of ground beef or shredded cheese. Or you could do soup - tomato, broccoli cheddar, butternut squash etc. Mashed potato or sweet potato. Smoothie. Yogurt. Refried beans

I was the same way with my first, they’ll get there. Just keep giving her the rice and beans, and eventually stop slapping her down, and then maybe try other things, like adding chicken, or bean and other things. I am the same way with my second but it gets easier. I now have an almost four year old who eats everything and an almost 1 year old who eats almost everything

For me it depends on how many teeth she has. My daughter has popped out 7 😳 (she’s way ahead. It’s odd and yes painful to breastfeed😅) but I slowly increased the density of her food as she got more teeth. Now she can handle a lot, but in the car seat where I can’t see her, I still give her those dissolvable snacks because choking scares me. But that would be my advice. Slowly increase the density and see what she can handle. Start out with soft but not purées like mashed potatoes or rice etc. and remember gagging is okay. It’s how they learn their limits. I hope this helped! Just my experience :) you’re doing great mama!

Feed that baby !!!! Does she have teeth if so how many? At least introduce her to baby food like puree her food whatever home cooked meal you make except seafood or give her mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes even a banana is safe because it’s soft…You won’t know what she can tolerate if you don’t introduce her to it

Check out solid starts, you can download the app or follow them on instagram. They help show you how to safety prepare foods for your baby! I used them and my one year old eats everything and is a fantastic eater even with only 4 teeth!

Im the same way I'm terrified to feed mine. I only give him mashed fruit or veg. Occasionally, my pediatrician sucks and doesn't offer much advice I tried to solid starts app but it's only worth it if you pay for it even then It didn't help with my anxiety now that my baby has a few teeth im starting to feel more comfortable but even then I still rarely give him anything other than fruit

I was scared or my son chocking but babies are honestly so smart. And if they never experience other textures of foods it'll be harder to get them to learn to chew properly and have several dislikes with foods. i.e. veggies, breads, savory foods, etc. We introduced boiled veggies first. Carrots potatoes broccoli asparagus etc. Rice is very messy and sticky but he loves it. Yogurt is a good one. Give some sliced fruit with it. Simple sandwiches. Pb&j, ham&cheese, even some left over pasta sauce to give a little flavor without giving toppings to throw on the floor. My son would throw the shredded cheese and eat the bread w sauce lol

We started with purees and boiled veggies then slowly gave him raw carrots and celery cuz he was teething. The biscuits/cookies they have for infants also help with teaching them to take bites and get used to holding food and bringing it to their mouth repetitively. They will never learn to swallow whole foods or mashed foods of they don't have access to them lol. When they're 1 or 2 it's REALLY gonna be hard cuz of lack of experience and practice.
