I'm currently doing that because I don't really produce enough. I give her the breast milk first and then the formula. Sometimes she gets only formula tho.
We combi feed, started in the hospital because he lost too much birth weight and my milk hadnt come in. I pump milk so others can feed him, and usually he eats 1 formula bottle a day and it build some stock up, but recently I had to go on some antibiotics so he's eaten through the supply and currently is about half and half. He's 5 months, never had issues.
Yep mine never latched and I found it too stressful to keep pushing him, especially as my milk took a week to come in so he started on formula at the hospital. Now he has pumped milk and formula kinda of 50/50. I like our system because it allows him to get used to bottles, he gets breast milk and the vitamin D from formula, and I don't have to whip my boobs out in this cold weather 😁
Little boy is 2 months now and I never really make much milk I don't know why 🤷🏻♀️ so I've been doing both from the beginning. Breast and formula feeding.
We’ve combi fed since 3 weeks with 1 bottle each evening. Now at 6 months we’ve introduced a second bottle because she’s hungrier
@Maddy did you get a set feeding plan ?
@Rebecca does your lil one still want to feed on you for comfort?
@Cherita do you express or offer the breast first ?
I would suggest asking for a full feeding assessment from the infant feeding team at your hospital. You should be able to access this as little one is still so young. Really important to offer both breasts at every feed and try breast compressions. how often is baby feeding in 24hr period? What is nappy output like? You are really building your supply at this point so offering formula will be taking away from that unless you are pumping to replace formula feeds. Peer supporter here, happy to answer any questions
I combi feed since birth, she's now 9 months. She has two bottles of formula a day and bf the rest of time. I love the benefits / flexibility of doing both!
My baby wouldn't latch in the hospital so he was started on formula. We are now three months in and he mostly breastfeeds but has an occasional formula bottle and it's never been a problem
