Toddler nursery/ preschool help? All so confusing!

Hi, I don’t know why but the whole ‘childcare’ options confuse me so much. My toddler just turned 3 in Nov 2024. I’m on Universal C and my partner works full time. My toddler has never been Nursery as the free funding nurseries were not great looking and we can’t afford the £1k pcm for private nursery. So my confusion is when does she start primary? Can she start preschool? Does she start Reception? Honestly my brain gets lost on the GOV.UK website. Would love the help so much 😕

My child turned 3 in November and he is going to preschool in January. I'm not sure how it all works but we are entitles to 30 free hours. If you go on the childcare choices website there's an eligibility calculator whee you pop in your details and it tells you what you're entitled to x

Not sure if I'm allowed to post links but it's https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=Childcare_Choices_24_25&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA0--6BhCBARIsADYqyL-eoPVG-G-FUDMduxB6oYpNRyK76rQWR2KWV2eNnoFujDIEihF_ZvwaAtP4EALw_wcB

Preschool is from 3! Reception starts the September after they turn 4 so for our littles it’ll be Sept 2026 but you start applying a year beforehand x

Applications are open for starting school nursery next September. A lot of us have applied to start September 25 and been offered a January start at nursery. You will either be entitled to 15 or 30 hours from January, but you can still use them at school nurseries 😊

Some primary schools do early intake at nursery if your child turns 3 before January, my little girl is starting nursery in January and it will be free using the funded hours 5 mornings a week she’s doing but with the 30 hours she could do full days if I wanted! She currently goes to private nursery and even with the funded hours it’s a fair bit of money!
