Nah that's completely over the top! When I had mine they obviously talked through the risks of what could potentially happen to ensure informed consent but they understood my reasoning for opting for a c section over vaginal birth l... sorry you had to deal with that x
Holy fuck switch providers lmfao that’s not just standard informed consent stuff, that’s like fear mongering
I would definitely report them that’s crazyyyy
Is it too late to get a second opinion
@Amelia luckily she did book me in. Just felt very extreme and personally attacking towards my mental health 😞 x
What u mean love… y u felt attacked
@Leigh Nicole yes, that’s what I went in expecting. I knew they would tell me risks. Just didn’t expect the persona attack about my mental health and the extremity of how she explained the risks 😢 How did you find your experience of an elective if you don’t mind me asking? X
@Darcey glad yours went well Darcey! It’s good to know mine was just a bad experience rather than justified! Come out feeling really attacked and scared sadly 😢
I would 100% complain… when I had my consultation he was great. He did explain the risks but also gave the low percentage of the chance any of those happening. He talked about the success rate of the hospital and how they have a team that’s there to limit those risks. I do have a history of mental health but he never even brought that up
That's unhinged. I would file a complaint for terrorizing you and weaponizing your anxiety against you. Yes it's major surgery and you should know the risks and possible complications but there's no call for bullying you because they don't agree with your decision.
Please don’t let this put you off, they have to let you know everything that could happen just so they are covered, but C-sections are so safe, debatably safer than giving birth naturally. I have health anxiety and I overthink everything, and I couldn’t advocate a C-section more. It’s so quick so safe and you are in the best hands. I would honestly have one every day please don’t be worried. Xx
@Shauna thanks Shauna, I knew they would try to put me off as standard practice but I feel she went to far. Did you have a positive experience with an elective? X
@Heather thanks Heather. Looking back on my paper work, she’s also circled risk of death just to remind me 🤣🙈
Oh wow. She's insane.

I had an awful consultant appointment, when i told my midwife about it she told me she would get a new consultant to see me… which she did and she was absolutely lovely! So definitely ask to see someone else
Yeah my consultation was the same, but my mind was set, I knew I wanted a c section. I had a very very positive experience, I would recommend a section to everyone! It’s quick, painless and the safest way to deliver the baby. The recovery was fine too, I was discharged after 24 hours, and went for a short walk 3 days after the section. The best advice I would give you for a speedy recovery is to get up and out of bed when the nurses ask you too, the longer you leave it the harder it will be, usually it’s around 6 hours after surgery. Really hope this helps x
That's actually ridiculous and insane, I saw mine for the first time yesterday too, it was so smooth and easy, took all of 10 minutes and I've got my date booked and she was reallt supportive and didn't try to put me off at all, id be reporting your consultant
