Not eating

When does the ‘not eating’ part of parent life end? Between colds, teething and general fussiness I can’t remember when my little one finished a meal. We go through these tiny windows of him being ok at eating. Then it’s full on hunger strikes. Refusing foods, not wanting to be fed, not wanting to self feed. It seems never ending and I am in the pits with it. I’m exhausted making these meals and then throwing them away every single day. When will it end???

There’s nothing more deflating than making food and snacks for them not to be eaten!

We're in the same boat! My son hardly eats 😩 just when i think it's getting better he changes his mind the next day.

I honestly could have written this! Ive stopped cooking specifically for her as it just made me so annoyed. Now I have lowered my expectations and stopped fighting it so I just do weetabix/porridge/yoghurt and fruit, with pouches or mash whatever Im having, and do different combos of easy things like banana and avocado etc and then try different easy things each time like toast, crumpets, cheese, rice cakes etc and different fruit and veg. I really thought by now she would be eating ‘dinner’. Daycare will be interesting! 🫠

I relate. He’ll be doing great then I’ll spend ages making something elaborate for him and then nope! I’ve been doing the same as @CeeCee and just trying to take the pressure off by not putting too much effort into his meals right now. It’s v deflating.

I hear you sister! A bit like ceecee said I’ve also stopped making All the baby friendly recipes for them to be snubbed and thrown, just rotate the same easy meals and if she eats then she eats if not then 🤷🏼‍♀️ she’s so heavy now some of it must be going in for her to pack of the pounds!

Literally the same, the only thing she’s actually eaten in 2 weeks is yogurt or custard or her advent calender🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ it’s so deflating spending ages cooking for it to be totally refused! I’ve stopped cooking meals now apart from tea as I cook for me and my husband and she is offered it (never eats it) so for breakfast and lunch it’s just cereal/ porridge and a sandwich/toast with some fruit but again the only thing that gets eaten is the yogurt! X

Yeah I do the same as the other posters above, I don't make separate meals now. We tend to have Weetabix or porridge with banana for breakfast, lunch will usually be something simple like an omelette/hummus or cottage cheese on toast with other veg and dinner is just what I would usually have
