Tips to get fasting levels down

So i was diagnosed at 26 weeks and have been diet controlled until now at 30+4. I test 7 times a day and all my readings have been perfect except the past 2 mornings when I've woken up and sugars have been 5.4 so just above target. Any tips on how to get this down? I'm already drinking apple cider vinegar and having a snack like cheese and crackers before bed. I really don't want to go on meds and my consultant told me she doesn't offer anyone metaformin as it only works 50% of the time so I'd go straight on insulin if readings start to go up. I'm gutted as feel like I'm doing everything by the book and even the dietician etc have said so, I was so determined to manage this and now feel my control is starting to go and it's really getting me down

Fasting numbers are the hardest to control no matter what I did they were always high i had to get on insulin to help them

Are you poorly or stressed at the moment or not getting good sleep? All of these can make your sugars higher. Unfortunately there’s not much you can control with fasting

50% of the time is still a lot, I don't think it hurts to try for a few days and see if it impacts the levels. I'm on 1 tablet at dinner and it just eeked my levels down a few decimals to get them controlled (alongside diet) as I'm phobic of needles etc. Ultimately its up to you and your dr but if you're more comfortable with trying metformin tablets I would try advocate to 'trial' them atleast rather than worry as long as its safe to do so

I’ve been having the same, had a handful of pumpkin seeds every night before bed and it’s worked! X

I had metformin with first pregnancy. It made me feel rubbish and didn’t work. Opted for insulin only this time.

Try going for a walk at night and wake up with relaxing or happy music, also make sure you don't think on the results when testing as that creates stress and levels go up. This is how I am controlling it for now apart from the late snack. I am now 34 weeks.
