@Sophie I think they can which is why you can still add to cereal etc. Breastmilk and formula just have additional vitamins they may not be getting from solids at 6 months as an example.
@Elsa yh , too much protein or sm for them to handle , but small amounts is fine in food
they should be getting most of their calories & nutrition from milk before 12 months & cows milk isn’t nutritionally complete whereas formula is. The amount of cows milk they would need in a day would be too much for their body to process as too much dairy can affect the bodies ability to absorb iron. Also, most vitamins for babies & kids only contain vitamins A,C, and D(with the exception of Wellbaby & a few others) but even the ones with more don’t have the same vitamins & minerals as formula is fortified with. That’s why formulas come in 3 stages (I know people say this is a marketing technique, but it’s not) but it’s to give the same similarities as breast milk that changes to suit the nutritional needs of a child in terms of calories & vitamin and mineral requirements as they grow. Cows milk & a multivitamin can’t do that. But after the age of 1 a child should be getting their dietary requirements from food so that’s why you can then use cow milk & vitamins to supplement diet x
No reason other than formula/ breastmilk needs to be their main drink as it contains more of the nutrients they need.
We (my god kids mom and me ) definitely didn’t wait a whole year before giving them regular milk . Probably around the time they started solids we transitioned to regular milk so I didn’t even know you supposed to wait 😂😂 im probably still not waiting but im glad to know this information
You can give milk and other dairy products before age 1. The main idea is for cows milk to not replace breast milk/formula until they are at least 1 year old.
They can’t digest cows milk before then
