Snack advice

My 2 year old lately has been not eating much at meals and then asking for snacks a million times in between. Obviously the snacks are more sugary and less healthy than his traditional meals so he prefers those. Do you guys limit snacks or have any advice on this? Thanks!

My kids generally only get to snack on regular foods that they would normally eat at meals. Cheese, full fat plain yogurt (nut butter, fruit, cinnamon mixed in to add flavor), fresh fruit, age appropriate raw veggies, leftover omlete strips, toast (with cream cheese, nut butter, butter, cinnamon). This way my kids don't have a preference for snacks because it's just the same as regular meals. And if they don't eat much at a meal and then fill up on snacks, it's ok because the snacks are still nutritious. We are trying to limit refined sugars until age 3 as much as possible to promote them learning to enjoy more varieties of healthy foods.

Same with my two year old, I found the trick to have food ready when she comes through the door after day care. I make their favorite foods - ravioli in marinara sauce, meatballs and pasta, she loves raw foods so I’ll always have some fruits and veggies with her meals (she has eaten chicken rice and two cucumbers this evening plus half a small tub of vanilla ice cream and some grapes, if food is ready before she asks for a snack she is a bottomless pit lol) try anticipating asks and have food ready

Try to make snacks in batches for when they are hungry and have healthy options on hand. I make these spinach banana muffins for my son that he loves that can be frozen and heated up In secs. Cheese sticks are great too. I try to limit the graham crackers and other fast snacks to when we are out and about so it seems like a treat.
