Accrued annual leave

Has anyone went on maternity leave in the middle of an annual leave year? Can I carry my full leave over from this annual leave year as well as the next annual leave year? HR haven’t been helpful.

Yes you can carry your leave over and also get a day added for each of the bank holidays that you miss whilst on mat leave. You can’t be penalised or at any disadvantage through having a baby

I was asked to take all my leave before I returned so it was tagged onto the end of my mat leave and I started fresh when I came back to work

So I started maternity leave 3rd January but because I’m going back on maternity leave 6th January I’m currently on annual leave technically as I’m not going back to work in between and I had accrued 32 days holiday 24 holiday days and 8 bank holidays. Which has definitely helped the 3 months no pay in between mat pay

It depends on your company I think. Mine is Jan-dec and I’ve been given the choice of either delaying my start date until feb or getting it all paid in Decembers pay.

I used mine to phase myself back in on half days. A colleague went off a couple of months after me and she's been told she has to use them within 2 months of return date. I think each company is different

So what if I was in work for half of my annual leave year and on maternity for the other half? Would I get only half of my annual leave or will I get all if I didn’t use it before, thanks

You’d get it all.

Thanks all
