Breast isn’t always better.

I know there are quite a few women that have a superiority complex for exclusively breastfeeding/pumping and shame moms for using formula. Well I’m hear to say breast isn’t always better. My milk was great this time with my 3rd so I’ve been exclusively pumping for my son but he gained no weight. After 2 weeks he was still not at birth weight and while he wasn’t losing weight he wasn’t gaining any either. I tired increasing his feeds and nothing worked. So I did an experiment and tried my other sons formula and after formula feeding my son almost tripled his daily weight gain goal. After talking with the doctor I mentioned my breastmilk had almost no fat separation and that was most likely why my son wasn’t gaining any weight. So in other words if I didn’t supplement formula my son wouldn’t be gaining weight. This is just one example of why breast wasn’t better.

I’ve never seen a mom shame another one for formula feeding🥺sorry you experienced that ! But I’m glad that you’re baby is gaining weight ❤️

@Jade some moms just don’t have a lot of fat in their breast milk and I’m just one of them. Babies still get the immune system from it, but it just makes it hard for them to gain weight.

@Melanie there has been a bunch of hateful comments and posts here against formula feeding moms. It’s really sad. I’ve had hospitals actually tell me breast is better than formula too.

Fed is best! Amazing that you’re able to give your son breastmilk and find a solution that works for his best health!
