California Maternity Leave

So I’m seeing that with SDI (10-12 weeks) and PFL (up to 8 weeks) we can get 4.5 months of leave or 5 months with csection. I’ve heard once you apply for SDI, we basically lose a week of pay and get paid the week after. So should I apply another week earlier so I won’t lose a week? (If my job lets me go on leave at 35 weeks).

When I applied, what I thought I read was that you cannot apply until after your last day of work. I didn’t physically receive my first payment until several weeks after I applied. But they back payed me for my entire leave.

Apply for it, let them know your due date and once you have baby let them know what your doing and your gonna have to prove the proof of baby born like a crib card.

Has anyone who's not a FTM done this before? I'd like more details as this is the first time I'm gonna apply too.

@Neeta I have done this before ☺️

@Valerie that's great Valerie. Can I text you in the next few weeks to understand the process?

@Neeta yeah you can message me! ☺️☺️
