We do food at least an hour after milk it he just isn't hungry, almost 8 months and he had bottles 7, 11,3 and 7 and meals approx 8, 12 and 5. Dinner is hit and miss sometimes too tired that end of the day. When he's too tired I just skip the meal don't see the point forcing it at this age I'm sure it will get easier they are still so little. I try to offer something familiar with most meals as well as something new which seems to help he normally goes for the familiar thing first
What's your schedule like? Do you offer milk then food or food then milk?
I struggled with this too. I wait until my baby wakes from a nap. Then I give her milk. 30 minutes after that I prep her food 20 minutes after I put her in the seat with a toy so she’s comfortable and distracted. Then I bring her food at about the hour mark we begin the feed. I spoon or hand feed her. And seconds later she snatches it and does it herself. If she starts to get bored or fussy we pause we play we sing and then we resume the feed. When she’s done she hits the table so the spoon. I always attempt one more spoonful to be sure and if she doesn’t open for it I wipe her down and put her in the playpen while I clean up.
We haven't quite found out schedule yet. I EBF on demand, and his wake up time is really varied at the moment (possibly the 8 month sleep regression). So I find it very hard to say he feeds at x, y, z times! I do try and leave a gap between milk and feeds. Just keep getting it a bit wrong :(
Obviously keep trying, but my understanding is that different babies just take to eating solid food at different times. Just developmental timing differences, most likely. I wouldn't worry yet if it seems like your baby isn't super interested in transitioning over to solid food yet. He'll get there!
I'm with you. My 7 month old doesn't seem to consume much food, despite all the work put into prepping different things since the 6 month mark. She won't be spoon fed, and doesn't really care for purees so far. Blw methods have been touch and go. We've had the best luck with roasted sweet potato, banana, chicken, baguette (careful once it gets gummy tho), and rice wafers. She still wants to breastfeed every 2 hours or so, which is getting exhausting. I've been trying to be chill about it. I'm hoping when she gets a tooth or 2 she might be more inclined to eat solids. They'll get there :)
It defintely gets easier, when do you offer milk and when do you offer food? For example, i give milk 30-60mins before a food meal xc
