Gestational diabetes

I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 33+4… feel like I’ve let my baby down or that my body is failing her. Also the shame that comes with it having PCOS and higher bmi 😔😔😔

Feel free to message, I got diagnosed with GD nearly 10 weeks ago, and I also have PCOS and hypertension and have always struggled with my weight and bmi.. i know it’s easier said then done but nothing you’ve done has caused you to get GD.. Ive been able to use it all as motivation to try and eat better which I always have struggled with as I have such a sweet tooth. But I have persevered as I have had to keep my sugars in range, I actually lost a bit of weight because of it and have eaten healthier than I would have done without it and have been able to manage it with diet without needing medication.

I was diagnosed at 15 weeks and wasn't able to control it with diet. My BMI is normal and I'm up to 4 metformin tablets + 50 units of insulin. There is no shame, you are not failing. In fact your body is miraculous letting you grow your little girl given your PCOS 🥰 x

Try not let it get to you. I have just also been diagnosed with it at 33 weeks. I don’t have PCOS and my BMI was on the marker. It isn’t anything you or your body have actually done. It’s just the placenta not doing what it’s told.

Can I ask how you all got diagnosed at 33 weeks plus just curious was there any symptoms etc

Thanks ladies I really appreciate the words of encouragement it’s just daunting so close to the end!! 🩷

@Natalie I went for a growth scan and then saw dr who asked for urine sample, had traces of glucose so I’ve been monitoring my blood sugars and I’ve had high readings xx

Thank you, was just wondering I have a growth scans next week as baby measuring big but I've had my diabetic screening and all was good
