Hey! It sounds like she might not be ready yet, and that's totally okay! According to our pediatrician, kids are usually ready for potty training closer to 18 months, but some aren't ready until 24 months or even closer to 36-42 months. If you want to keep it fun, maybe try introducing it more casually - let her sit fully clothed while playing or reading a book to make it less intimidating. You could also get a fun potty chart with stickers or let her pick out 'big kid's undies. No pressure to either of you - you've got time! ❤️
If you think she’s showing signs of readiness I would just let her go without a diaper or just in underwear and actually go all in on the process. But 16 months is super young for potty training. It’s really all about recognizing the feelings in their body that they need to go.
Don't over stress it right now. Let her play with it. Sit on it as she wants (even with her clothes on) this will help her get comfortable with it. When she shows clear signs she is ready then she will be willing to use the potty chair. We just bought a potty chair ourselves.
If she is crying every time I’d take a break for a few days and then try again
I go with her and put a cartoon on my phone for her to watch. She is now almost fully potty trained. She is actually teaching her younger sister
