Going under bed covers

Right, my little lad going under the bed covers he’s seven and I’ve told him countless of times not to do it because it’s dangerous now he’s done it again tonight and he was hyperventilating. I managed to calm him down but my partner thinks I should’ve really told him off But all I did was telling him it was dangerous and that he shouldn’t of done it bluntly because that’s how my son works. It’s better to be blunt with him then get angry and cross cause it doesn’t work. I just really worry should I really told him off like partner suggested or did I do right thing. BTW he has autism.

Figure out what sensory need he is trying to meet and he’ll him to meet it. If he is 7, unless the bedding is really non breathable material, I wouldnt worry as he should be able to hold the covers away from him. Just use natural fabrics like cotton and avoid nylons or polyester. Don’t leave him with a weighted blanket overnight.

@Hopeful I’ve figured out most of them he just really scared him self more than anything bless him x

I wouldn't get mad at him my 3 year old we believe he's autistic and he does a similar thing he comes out we've brought him an anxiety sock and he's love it. We are wanting to get him a cuddle box but there expensive we have cut one the bedding sheet st the bottom so it has too openings and we let him go in it and hid for his sensory needs x

@Paula so you think I did right thing with being calm instead 😊 xx

Yes definitely hun, I find being carm and sturd works with bot my boys, have to say to the point with them for them to listen and not do things.

@Paula apartly i should be harsher with him according to my partner I said you would made it worst than need to be xx

@Kathryn In my experience with my boys and my partners first born over reacting makes them worse or over asking things. I found with my sons say something once and let it sink in then repeat of needed every one as different parenting but u do it the way it works for u. I do find being warmer as better results x
