It's just an extra check, I've had them throughout due to other risk factors, where they measure babies head, abdomen, and length to get an idea of size and growth. I think it's pretty normal for them to do if youve been admitted and not had a scan within the last 2 weeks but could be wrong! When I was admitted, because I'd had a scan the day before, they didn't bother 😅
It's similar to the scan you'd have had at 20 weeks:)
Growth scans aren’t anything to really worry about. Similar to the anomaly scan at 20 weeks. I’m high risk so I’ve been having them since 28 weeks and had them every 2-3 weeks. I’m due my next one on the 28th. It’s nice to see baby but they just take measurements and then the results go to the consultant x
Growth scan is taken if it is a first pregnancy or high risk pregnancy (eg Gestational diabetes). This is what one of the sonographer told us.
They’re nothing to worry about I’m having regular growth scans and have also been admitted to the growth clinic to. They just measure the size of baby
@Alina Coffey this isn't standard for a first pregnancy, may well be in your area but not nationally. Standard scans are 12&20 weeks. Growth scans are offered for high risk pregnancies or if any concerns arise with growth, if it drops on one occasion or accelerates on two. Or obviously for any other reason if they have cause for concern such as placenta placenta placement or function etc x
I have regular growth scans and was admitted overnight because of unexplained contractions (which did not result in labour). Growth scans showed everything is okay and the contractions have settled down and my little one is bumbling along just fine still inside now. Being admitted and having a growth scan is probably a precaution. Stay strong my lovely! ☺️
I wasn’t admitted but the scan went well. Don’t worry about it so much xx
When I got admitted overnight I had a growth scan, don’t worry it’s just a way for them to check on baby as well as the foetal monitoring. I found it comforting seeing my little one on the screen x
