Solid starts gives you info about what you can offer. Veggie fingers etc at the usual first foods you would offer at the 6 months mark cos as long as you can squish them between your fingers they aren't too dissimilar to purees once in the mouth.
@Angharad I would love to give her my own food but we make our curries spicy. Plus she hasn’t really got the hang of putting food in her mouth by herself she relies on someone else to do it for her
@Natalie that makes sense thank you x
@Khushi the more it's offered the more she'll learn the skill of putting it in her mouth herself. It's something they need to learn like all the others so someone else doing it for them doesn't give them that chance. Could you take some of the base out before adding spices?
@Khushi I found the Ella’s kitchen sticks to be a really good learning tool for her, she would pick it up and start sucking it and she really got the hang of it in the end!
Melty sticks are a good place to start if you’re nervous about it as they just melt in the mouth but it gives your LO a chance to learn how to hold finger foods. I also found things like broccoli were a good place to start when it came to veggies as again the head of the broccoli just breaks up in the mouth when it’s been steamed. I was nervous about it as well but gaging is totally normal and their way of learning x
Following as we've been doing purees too. I have bought melty finger snacks puffs for her to try out though.
Try scrambled egg instead. There’s an app called baby led weaning cookbook. I find it really good. But generally I will offer some of my food to baby to see if she takes to it before I commit to offering her a whole portion or cooking stuff especially for her. She hated baby food pouches and just started ‘asking’ for bites of mine so I gave it to her to see what would happen and it’s just snowballed from there. Don’t rush it, they all go at their own pace x
