Kids Makeup?

My daughter has been asking to use my makeup A LOT lately. I typically don't let her use it because most of what I use does not come off easily . Without thinking I told her that we can get her some of her own for Christmas and she is very excited. I'm looking at washable makeup brands to buy but now I am hesitating. Is this an ethically safe gift? I don't want her to grow up with a poor body image or reliance on makeup and consumerism. I also don't want to perpetuate unhelpful gender norms. I try to use phrases like "Just a second, I WANT to put on makeup" instead of "I need to put on makeup first" because it is important to me that she feel good in her skin regardless of how she chooses to present herself. For context I was raised in a religion where men dictated how and when girls could start wearing makeup and I want to move away from that entirely. Am I thinking about this too much??? What do you fabulous people think?

I definitely think you should do more research on ingredients in childrens makeup... Even in adult makeup lots of harmful chemicals in it ... I'm making the switch to all organic and minimalist ingredients for makeup. I like the brand Pacifica which can also be found at whole foods

You probably won't want her to start wearing foundation at such a young age but there are some useful information in this link I've been using myself

I've put in hours of research in brands and so far Pacifica is the cheapest and healthiest option I can find

You could always get fake make up for her instead! Or get something super basic like moisturizer and a Mario badescu face spray. I allow my toddler to use those occasionally because she wants to when she sees me using them

I call wearing makeup "being fancy" instead of saying pretty or whatever else. We started getting her play makeup last christmas and she loves messing around with it. She makes herself look like quite the drag queen 😂 but she has fun with it. She likes to watch me get ready and we'll do light eyeshadow sometimes. But I try to not make it a big deal
