Hungry formula

Hello, my baby is 2 weeks old and he is guzzling every drink he has. He is currently on between 4/5 oz (I fill a 5oz but never fully finishes it) every 3.5/4 hrs. I have started to struggle with him going to sleep after a feed and burp so tonight I have bought the hungrier aptamil formula to see if there’s any change. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Forgot to add he had 4 oz at 1 pm today then another 2.5 oz at 3:30 and another oz at 4:15. Pm

Hungry baby shud help my wee boy had to b put on the hungry baby as he was takin 4oz every 2 hours hes now taking 5oz every 3-4 hours

I think 4oz of formula is way too much for a 2 week old. Have you considered giving a pacifier or nipple for him to suck on? Does his stomach feel hard after feeding? If so he definitely had too much. I use to think my newborn needed 4oz of breast milk but once I started spacing it out (2oz every 2 hours) she slept way better and had less stomachaches

I think at 2 weeks he should still be feeding every 2-3 hours. Larger amounts will stretch his belly and could cause long term issues. My girl is 20 weeks and has approx 5oz - 6oz every 3 hours

@Niya he has a pacifier but he chomps on that like it’s a bottle so I give him a bottle because that’s his cue that he’s hungry because when it falls out his mouth he cries until it’s put back in.

@Sophie does his tummy feel hard and big after feeding? If so you can try pace feeding for at least a week to see if things change

@Niya no just normal

@Niya every ounce he has I burp him

@Sophie if he isn’t having stomach pains and having regular poops then it might be fine. Definitely ask the pediatrician. I’m curious to know how much he weighed at birth because I know weight influences how much he can eat

@Niya he was 7 lb 7oz at birth and on Friday he weighed 8 lb 12oz so he should be well over 9 lb now as he’s now 17 days old

My 9 month old still drinks 4-5oz 😳 I would speak to a pediatrician, some babies are just hungry but for now I would try to feed smaller amounts more often as he's so young.

@Susie in the uk it’s normal how much he is drinking

I see, in the US they told us 2-3 oz 👀 advice differs so much... But if he's not uncomfortable then continue feeding him according to his cues. Are you pace feeding? If not you can try that, my midwife said it's important to feed slowly, my baby is also bottle fed.

@Susie yeah I pace feed also as I don’t like him to be sick constantly. When I’ve told my midewife etc how much he takes and how often they dont question it so it must be okay

Then I wouldn't worry, he probably will be a chunk the way he's drinking so prepare your back 😉 I would know, mine is a 25lbs chunk 😂

I think i read something on here that the hungrier baby food doesn't actually do anything and should only go on that if a doctor has advised to etc, some babies can be hungrier than others, maybe try feeding every 2.5/3 hours as he may have less ounces a feed then x

@Sophie is that AI overview referring to breast milk or formula?

Are you pace feeding with a slow flow nipple?
