Advice!

Hi, so recently my 3.5 year old has been acting out at nursery. Pushing peers, scratching teachers. He’s also been acting out at home biting/nipping me & also hitting and pulling his 6 month old sisters hair. He has never in his life hit or done anything like this, he is such a kind hearted little boy & would never hurt a fly. He has also recently been diagnosed with autism & has a speech delay. Has anyone else experienced this? Feel so helpless because he can’t tell me what’s bothering him for him to act out like this 😭

The hitting might be out of frustration cos of the speech delay! Maxi can be a bit of a basher when he’s struggling to make himself heard, we’re on pathway for autism diagnosis and know how challenging it can be, maxi is a lovely boy but if he’s frustrated about not being understood he’s got aggressive tendencies x

@Laura yeah that’s what I was thinking tbh! Usually when he’s frustrated he just screams & whines until he’s heard but suppose everyone at nursery doesn’t understand him as much as me! It’s so hard when they can’t tell you what’s wrong 😫x

Maxi is much more bashy at preschool cos at home we all know what his unusual words and phrases mean but the kids don’t and he wants them too so he just smacks or pushes or snatches to make himself heard, that way an adult steps in and he can use his words to tell his friends
