This was me when I was potty training my son and I had some sleepless nights thinking of how I'd make him use the public toilets as I'd generally avoid using them as much as possible. I started carrying a foldable potty seat that sits over the toilet seat. And I'd carry a huge bunch of antibacterial wipes/bathroom surface wipes. I'd wipe the seat first then put his toilet seat and then once he is done wipe his seat and put it back in the travel bag. Then wash my hands then his hands. Such a chore!!! Now I just lift him and position him in such a way that his willy points the toilet (literally lift him over the toilet) and the job is done without him coming in contact with any part of the toilet. And we continue to wash our hands after the job! Use lots of wipes and wash hand after using the toilet! Doing this gave me some peace of mind.
I am 100% with you! When I was potty training my daughter, I took the travel potty everywhere with us even if I already had 50 things to carry 😅. The potty was a priority!!!!!! Now shes 3 and I go with her to public toilets and hold her over the toilet. We call this ‘a flying wee or a flying poo’ 🤣 maybe a bit excessive but it works very well. Obviously at home and at grandparents she just sits normally and at nursery too (although realistically how frequently do these toilets get cleaned at nursery?! 😬)
I always take baby wipes with me still. I grab a nice big handful of them and just make sure I clean the seat before she sits on it. I'm trying to teach her not to touch the seat and to hold onto me instead but its hard 🙃 they don't tend to listen and seem to touch everything ☹️ so I make sure we stand at the sink after and I scrubbbbbb those little hands 🤣🤣🤣
