No. I got my baby shoes when he started walking and it was a struggle to get him to like them at first but now he tries to put them on himself!
Wait till they're walking! I think it can impact foot development if you start using them too early!
Once they are actually fully walking unassisted. Putting shoes before they can even walk, can actually hinder their foot development especially if they don’t have proper shoes on. Wide toe, etc.
@Grace I second this. There’s fuzzy booties you can use during winter to keep feet warm but when we had my oldest in the summer she would be barefooted or just socks on wherever we went
It’s recommended to wait until they’re independently walking!
Ok. With the holidays and my baby’s first birthday coming up people are asking me what size shoes she wears. I only ever put her in booties, and plan to wait until she walks to put actual shoes on. I thought maybe I was old school or something with everyone asking this. Thank you all
No I waited until she was well into walking because she needed good grip!
Could always ask for gift cards for the shoes or say something like once she starts walking it would be a wonderful gift-would hate for baby to outgrow them before being able to use them.
Shoes aren’t really good for their developing feet, if you have to put shoes on do something that’s wide enough that their toes aren’t pushed together, something with soft soles. I start shoes when the kid starts walking and they only wear them when needed
You can use booties but there are shoes that are meant for babies that are not walkers as yet.
I would recommend asking for size 4-6 for when she starts walking
No but you can whenever you feel like . My baby has had shoes since she was infant .
