Gifts for teachers vent

I bought a bunch of hand made chocolate bombs and mugs for teachers. Today was one of the directors birthday and we got her Harry Potter socks and hair satin scrunchies (she loves Harry Potter) and a card. I mentioned to my husband that I was going to get her flowers as well and he flips out saying I’m over doing it. But that’s just how I am, I thought it would be thoughtful. Am I in the wrong for wanting to shower the director and teachers with gifts that they want ? Or is my husband just being a grinch. He does the bare minimum and I go above and beyond. Idk

Lool it’s a lot but it’s Christmas so hey ho 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anything YOU want to do for someone should never be a lot. As long as it doesn't interfere with the finances you and your husband share. I am the same way and my husband says I'm always doing too much but idc lol

That is a lot but I'm sure that teacher will appreciate it.

I think it's a lot but as long as you can afford it you do you!

Yeah I’m on your husband’s side here. The amount of gifts I see going to teachers stresses me out and my toddlers not even school age yet. They get a gift for every holiday and their birthday and appreciate week. It’s just excessive to me and the expectation to give so many is absurd. Best to be in the same page as your husband for future occasions.

Yep, think I'm on your husband's side.. its a little too much. Especially if coming out of joint finances, I'd be annoyed if I was the husband. It's lovely that you want to get them thoughtful gifts, but often the 'handmade by the kids' but minimal cost gestures are the most cherished.

I’m on your husbands side! I’ve only given the teachers a card 😂 they get SO much! My friend is a teacher and she could never tell you who got what, because it’s just piles of the same stuff.. flowers, chocolate etc! I personally don’t bother, and only get something small for end of year (when they finish in July)

@Sam yeah but see here’s the thing it’s not coming out of joint finances. It’s all me… which most of it is anyway so that’s the part where I’m like ??? 🤦🏾‍♀️ but I hear all of you and what your saying but honestly if it’s a less than 15 dollars spent I don’t think it should be an issue. Yes I agree and that’s why we made the card as well. And for the teachers for holidays hot chocolate bombs.

Thank you all for the insight. Maybe I’ll go less next time. We also spoke about it. His thing was that I go above and beyond for other people when no one does that in return for me. Which I don’t do it to get things in return I do it because I want to. And I think the teachers should be appreciated. But note to self I’ll do more handmade and Go a little less. Thank you all !

I’m the same way. N I have the same issue with my husband. He can b a huge penny pincher but I’ll always do wat I want in the end so he just needs to get over it.
