@Savannah I actually am a Canadian citizen (don't have a health card and haven't lived there for ages)
Usually if you don't have a health card, they'll make you pay upfront for any healthcare visit. You'd be best served going to emergency room at the hospital, which like Savannah said, could take hours depending on where you are in Canada.
Without a healthcard, you wouldn’t be covered under Canadian health care I don’t believe. So perhaps look into what your insurance covers internationally
If you dont have a healthcard for the province you have to pay unless you have an insurance plan that will cover it
Even as a citizen you do not get healthcare without being a resident. Since you are a resident of the UK you would have to pay out of pocket. Your best bet is look up private pregnancy clinics in the area you are visiting, give them a call and ask explain your situation. They can tell you what they will charge you to check the baby.
Thanks everyone
Get decent insurance for pregnant people, go to private clinic in Quebec if you’re close by. Not sure if Ontario has private clinics but don’t think they exist in Alberta or British Columbia (at least not at the time I lived there). Get a Doppler if you’re worried but honestly, just trust the process! Rest when needed, eat decent food, stay hydrated (tap water is clean and okay to drink) and you’ll be grand!
Hi, this may be something you want to speak to your maternity team about, as well as your insurance plan. Here, if you need emergent care, which this would be considered that.. and don’t have a provider, you need to go to the emergency room, which is not prompt, and takes several hours to see someone. Additionally, you may want to look into if it will cost you upfront or if your insurance is able to cover it, assuming you are not a Canadian citizen. I hope your trip goes well!
