I used this website https://www.teachersspl.co.uk/how-it-works
Hi, I’ve done pretty much the same this year. I got the SPL website to do the forms for me and it was so worth the money. The blocks are the term time chunks.
Yes I’ve seen this thank you, but absolutely do not have £70 lying around for it. So made this post in hope someone could help
And I paid for them to do all the paperwork and dates for me, all I had to do was fill in my personal details, sign and hand into HR at work. They’re great and offer to support if HR come back with anything. They’re great also sent me a full breakdown of my MAT leave, given my preferred start dates etc
Thank you all so much for the responses. I think I’ve got it now. I’ll apply for the 6 weeks full pay, then my first block will start in Sept u till the half term. By second block after autumn half term then my third block after Xmas half term.
Assuming your school have no specific spl policy, when you curtail your maternity leave to start your first return to work block you also forfeit any remaining occupational maternity pay (the 50% bit). When are you planning on going on leave? My mat leave started on 13th march this year and my return to work blocks are the summer, Christmas and feb half term. My occupational pay ended a couple weeks before the summer and smp runs out 4 weeks (+Feb half term) before I return.
@Carys yes so I’ll start the SPL when I’ on the statutory maternity pay. I go off mid February. Yes mine is the same as yours, I have 4 weeks before the summer break when my SMP starts
Totally agree I paid the £65 from SPL company! Incredible
I would highly encourage teachers SPL. Just Google that. It’s a pink website the lady who runs it worked in law prior to being a head. It’s about £70 and the company do all the dates and forms to maximize your mat pay. They also will liaise with your school if you face pushback.
