I’m petty I’d say ‘I’ve see this is for children, therefore, I felt it would be more appropriate with you’ and give it back. Unfortunately, I’ve went 16 years with someone similar in my life from my husbands side, and it becomes mentally exhausting, issues get bigger and nothing changes but how you choose your words, or don’t react, and it’s not fair. I think speak to your fiancé, let him know you feel disrespected and if it continues you don’t want to be around that kind of behaviour. It’s absolutely easier said than done.
