Is labor starting ?

How did y’all know if you may have peed yourself or water was breaking ? This is my first baby and I always thought it’d be obvious but I am confused .. before my doctors appointment today I leaked what I thought was pee and didn’t feel it. Just notices when I took my pants off for my cervix check .. well that’s happened a couple more times since and I can’t tell if it’s light fluid leaking or I’m losing control of my bladder. I put on a pad and took a nap when I woke it’s wet as well but not soaked. I was only 3cm dilated.

I was told to smell it, if it smells like urine then it’s urine, where as your waters can be chemically smelling or can smell like semen or no scent at all. If it smells like urine then it’s most likely wee leaking x

@Kayleigh can I know who told you that? Most urine is odorless when it comes out unless you’re dehydrated

You could always go in to get checked. It’s better to be safe and it’s not always obvious like you see in movies. Mine was just a continuous leak too

I was told when your water breaks it smells metallic x

It has no smell, I’m going to see if it happens again and just go in to be safe. Especially now that I’ve started having pressure and light cramps. Nothing hurts but it’s all new feelings so I’m confused lol

Hi hun, with my first my waters leaked the whole way through labour started with similar to this and as time went on they was gushing out slow if that makes sense sort of similar feeling to a period gush but water that would fill a maxi pad, ring up triage and go in they can test the liquid to see what it is xx

ur water breaks for a long timemy water broke in the store it was so wet and i thought it would stop but it went on forever i didnt go thr hospital until 7am the next morning tho. it smelled like chlorine to me😭

It’s an uncontrollable feeling. It just spews out and you can’t stop it. That’s how I knew Also mine had no smell.

My waters leaked slowly for days and I didn't know what it was. I was in pre-labour for about 3-4 days before losing my mucus plug. Then the next morning I woke up a little wet, I thought it was more discharge and night sweats which I had quite bad during my third trimester. Used panty liners for 2+ days until it seemed heavier. Called the midwives who asked me to come to hospital for a check. Confirmed that my waters had been leaking for over 48hours and they had to induce straight away due to risk of infection and they needed things to progress. There was no smell. After labour started progressing it got heavier and heavier in waves, a gush here or there, until hours later there was a huge pop in my pelvis and water gushed absolutely everywhere. Then things went from 0-100 real quick. Dr and Midwives said that everyone is different and for some it can be a very small tear somewhere causing a very gradual leak and for others it's a huge breakage which is the huge gushing some people get.

Thank you ladies ! I will definitely be going soon as the fluid is just starting to come out in bigger spurts and at times when I for sure do/did not have to pee. I’m also starting to have actual pains. Still nothing major but enough for concern

For me it got to a point that when I stood up I could feel water coming out, kind of like when you stand up on your period after sitting for quite some time. That's when I called the hospital (my partner convinced me) as I was in denial because it was a few weeks early. And it turned into a constant light leak and lots of contractions by the time I went to hospital as I wanted to eat first as well lol. It went on for days (leaking and contractions) before I finally went, so definitely good to get checked to determine next steps and ensure safety of both you and baby.

Update, I finally went around midnight and my water was definitely broken, I’ve been admitted and in active labor. 😅😅

I had a big blob of pinky discharge at 39 weeks and light cramping every so often and it was not painful but because it followed a pattern I went in hospital and was 6cm dilated but was booked in for a c- section. I also have a really high pain tolerance so you may notice sooner and no labour is the same x

@Teara congratulations! sorry I had just seen this after my last comment ❤️

And just like that he’s here ladies 🤍 he made is arrival at 11:09pm 12/19/24.
