Am I doing the right thing

My 16 month old still getting rocked or patted to sleep. My son use to have a favorite teether that we could just lay him down with at night and he was self-soothe to sleep and throughout the night. We decided to wean him off it because it was becoming an addiction and causing a bit of an issue in this daycare class. He had one at school and if other kids would try to grab it, he would bite them. We were able to wean him off in about 3 days by going cold turkey. Afterwards, we kind of reverted back to rocking to sleep. We've been doing that for about 3 months now. Here's the dilemma. Rocking to sleep also means rocking back to sleep during wake ups and it wears on me because I'm usually the one up. He normally sleeps through the night but we just went through a month of multiple wake ups because of teething. He has started somewhat sleeping through the night the past few days. However, I still want to get away from rocking to sleep. I started the ferber method with him and it's day 6. He's been going to sleep after crying for about 14 mins pretty consistently all week. My husband is silently judging me and I'm starting to second guess myself on if this method is even worth it because I feel like the cry time should be shorter by day 6. I don't know if I should keep trying, stop, or change method or if we're actually doing good. I have no clue. Help! Btw: He does have a couple stuffed animals in his crib but he's not attached to them or anything like he was to his teether toy to help soothe. He takes 1 nap at school which usually is about 45mins to 1.5 hours...it varies. He teacher doesn't have to rock or pat him. He just lays on his mat and goes to sleep with everyone else

Hi Mama. Give this little guy his teether toy at home but not at school/ daycare. They can learn to dissociate it from nap time. Our son has been sleep trained since 12 months and uses his pacifier at home but only at bedtime. It is ok to sleep train. No, it does not improve immediately. But for us, the 2nd time around ar 12 months was quicker than the first time at 6.5 months or so.
