Croup cough

Hey, so my daughter turned 3 5 weeks ago and for the past week and a half (10days) she's had this awful cough. She had a temperature last week for almost 2 days so yesterday morning I called my doctors and got her an appointment at 1:15 yesterday afternoon at another clinic as that's where they've set up colds and flu patients which I understand... Get there. Get seen. Get told it's viral. 7pm bedtime. Gave Calpol and cough medicine to help her sleep. Nope. Basically non stop coughing and borking until 8pm when we brought her down to try getting her to sleep sat up. Nope still non stop coughing. 9pm put back in her own bed as she's crying saying she's tired. Again non stop coughing. Call 111 for some advice at 9:30 as she's basically not stopped coughing for more than a few moments for 2.5hrs... they say they want to see her at 10pm so wego to our urgent care centre lucky only 5mins drive away from us.. within minutes get seen. The nurse check my daughter over and listens to her coughing. And mentions croup. I mentioned it at the doctor's at 1:15 and he said it's not a bark noise so it's not and when we get seen my the doctor at 10pm yeah she's got croup. Is there any chance she didn't have it at the 1:15 appointment or has he made an error? My husband is not happy and has decided to put a complaint it about the first doctor. Has anyone else experienced croup before?

Hey.. I had THE exact same thing.. got checked by the doctor.. was told it was viral. Her breathing then got really bad.. probably 5 hours later.. so I took her to A and E and they said it’s croup and gave her a steroid as a little bit of medicine and immediately her breathing eased and her cough went a couple of days later..

She had an infection on Halloween that made vomiting. She couldn't keep fluids down or anything so was in a+e for like 8hrs and I heard a child coughing and then nurse said who's child is that as it sounds like croup. And that's what made me think hers was but he said it's not a bark noise so it can't be but then both nurse and doctor later said yes. She had a steroid last night and we have to go to the pharmacy around 4pm to get another one plus an inhaler. It's crazy how fast things can change. Xx

Before reading down I knew it was croup My 10 months had croup 2 weeks ago. She struggled to breathe and had to rush her down to the hospital. She’s had cold that didn’t get better for about a month. Then cough then breathing. She had to be given steroid and within 4 hours it was better. I’d watch her closely and if anything occurs take her in as croup is viral right now and is very contagious.

@Ebunoluwa thank you. I do hope your little one is all better now? They said if she struggles to breathe or if it gets worse to take her back in. Does the steroid come in a Calpol type of syringe? And it's clear? If so she had that last night and is getting another one at 4pm.
