Is this normal?

My baby turned 1 on 2nd December and we started mixing in cows milk into his formla bit by bit, he was absolutely fine with this, we then gave him pure cows milk but he was very gassy and pooped a lot and they were sloppy poops. We went back to formula and cows milk then was ok but we ran out of formula now so since yesterday he's only had pure cows milk and today he's had 3 poops already and their not as solid as they normally are but also not sloppy. Sorry tmi. Is this normal or could he not be agreeing with milk? He eats yoghurts and cheese and never had any issues with breastmilk or formula so don't think it's a dairy thing. Not sure if this is normal or not x

It could be that cows milk is too much for him. Also how much is he having as I was told by my health visitor that children over 1 only need half a pint of cows milk so it might be that he’s having too much of it?x

@Julia a day he has a little bit with weetabix. Maybe drinks about 4oz at lunch and maybe 5oz for bedtime bottle. Is that too much? X

It could be that it’s too much for your baby. What formula was he on before going onto cows milk?x

@Julia he was on aptamil. I'll try get him to drink more water and maybe cut out the bottle during the day so only bedtime bottle x

The Aptamil Pepti 1 for cows milk allergy or just normal Aptamil? And yeah I would do that see how he gets on for a week and if it’s still the same ring the doctors for some advice x

Same thing happened to us! She was diagnosed with secondary lactose intolerance as she had a tummy bug shortly before we swapped. They explained that the stomach was still irritated and therefore developed an intolerance. We’ve been off lactose for 2 weeks and noticed a difference after a day! They said after 8 weeks we can reintroduce. Maybe try lactose free cows milk and see?xxxxxxx
