Toddler from hell

I’m don’t even know where to begin. The past month with my 3.5 year old boy has been awful! I understand that he’s going through some major growing and development right now but the tantrums and yelling and screaming and hitting and biting and throwing things… Just that gave me a panic attack last night. He’s destroyed two lamps from anger. When he’s throwing a tantrum the first thing he does is look for something to throw at me. Toys, books, literally anything within his sight. Is anyone else going through this? We’ve tried so many things to calm him down and by that I mean talking to him or leaving him alone or not making eye contact. I’m so lost.

My daughter likes to say no a lot or tell me what’s she’s going to do like what? Lol no this is how it is little girl. I count to 3 and she knows she’ll get in trouble. I threaten taking tablets away and going in time out. Then I tell her after she sits on the stairs in time out for like 5+ minutes depending on how bad she’s been I explain why she got put there. If she smacked or hit me I’d tap her hand and say no. She stopped doing that. You have to discipline but in your own way whatever works best. Not everything works for every kid. They need to know they can’t walk all over you.

Hi! We’re doing all of this. Hand smacking the past two nights when he’s been throwing things. I hate doing it but I just hope it sticks. We don’t gentle parent. Not this kid. He’s made for the 1980’s old school parenting.

I’ve never done this, but I was at a friends and her son kept taking toys away from my son. She caught him mid act, and took him to “time out” a small room they have and it worked.

We’ve been going through a tough time as well. I’ve stopped screen time all together. Only if he’s behaving well he can have maybe 30min. For last two weeks he barely had any screen time. He’s mostly bad behaved when tired so I tell him that I do understand that he’s tired but that no reason to behave like that. And I got a book from library about a little cherry that is getting very angry and he doesn’t know why and other cherries showing him how to deal with anger. Counting to 10 works. Good luck there. You’re not alone in it. Let’s hope it passes fast 🤞🏻
