How many words should he be saying?

I'm really concerned my little one doesn't speak. If he wants something, he says nana. He has always had trouble with babbling, and I've noticed he doesn't close his lips for sounds like Mama. Should I raise my concerns? Thanks in advance for any advice

My son only says baba, yum yum and sometimes mumma , when he hits 2 I’ll get more concerned if he hasn’t picked anymore words up, we have got a place for little talkers which is a 6 week course , we was offered a place only because it’s for his age group not because they think he should be saying more words x

Thanks that's really helpful to know and very reassuring. Did you enroll through your health visitor or was it a children centre initiative? X

It was with the health visitor she got some people to call us about different groups they do and then we can pick if we want him to take part or not, might be worth asking your HV xx

My son says mum only. If he wants me to do something he will thrust it into my hands or grab my hand and take me. Sometimes he makes a particular sound to get my attention but otherwise doesn’t say anything. My health visitor said to contact for an earlier appt at 22 months instead of two as he would be put on a long waiting list just to get seen by the appropriate people, that’s if there has been no changes though
