The alphabet alone as ABC… but phonics when ready to learn to read etc..

We’ve been doing it like ABC but I’ve been wondering the same thing! Was going to ask his nursery what they suggest

ABC so far

We sing the alphabet song ABC, but when looking at individual letters we do it as phonics.

I’d recommend using phonics as that’s how children learn to read. As a nursery practitioner, I find that I have to “correct” a lot of children who use ABC instead of phonics. Basically using phonics will give them a head start in reading and writing! x

Phonics

The Ms Rachel phonics song is great as it teaches both side by side x

Phonics 100%%%% the only thing you really need to know ABC’s for is for knowing your ABC’s, nothing else. phonics will them them pick up reading so much quicker and if they’re getting confused between phonics and ABC’s it could take them longer to get the hang of reading
